Compassion Care Foundation

mycoupons | 29 April, 2008 15:53

What's shakin MyCouponers!

We are currently working with a merchant who has been dedicating his time and money for the last 5 years to helping the people in Uganda.  He started the Compassion Care Foundation which offers sponsorship programs to provide schools for children whose families have little or no economic means, and medical care for them and their families. Compassion Care provides villagers with medical and dental care, educational facilities for children, food, and scholarships for those wishing to attend a university, Trade School, or other institute of higher learning.

Through helping to build schools, raise money for tuition, provide clothing, medical care, and buying nets to help stop the spread of Malaria, the Compassion Care Foundation is running low on funds to help.  Fortunately, you can all help raise money for this worthwhile cause.  By simply signing up for a credit card, the major bank providing the cards will donate $30 per card along with 3% of all purchases made on the card.

Think about it.  We nearly all have credit cards so why not open a card that helps to feed the hungry, educate the children, and keep up with regular doctors visits?  You can help make a difference!

Please visit www.compassion-care.org  to find out more about this amazing organization and get details on how you can save a life!

Ameican Idol Semi-shocker

mycoupons | 11 April, 2008 10:43

Hi everyone!

So I must say I'm a little bit shocked about the American Idol elimination last night.  I realize that the bunch is dwindling down and someone must go every week, but will someone please tell me WHEN IS FREAKIN KRISTY LEE COOK GOING TO BE ELIMINATED!!!  I thought FOR SURE last night was her night.  And then she wasn't even in the bottom three.  WHO THE HECK IS VOTING FOR THIS GIRL?!

I really didn't think this was the week for Michael Johns to go.  He took on a big task channeling Steven Tyler, but IMO he did quite well.  Kristy Lee Cook on the other hand is cute, yes, BUT CAN SHE PLEASE JUST LEAVE?!  She is a better singer than the average human being but she doesn't belong on the same stage as someone like say, David Cook!  My incredible dislike for her had to have started around the night that she ABSOLUTLY MURDERED 'Eight Days a Week' by the Beatles.  They are one of the greatest bands of all time and for her to turn it into that honky tonk crap that she calls a 'strong performance' is beyond my realm of understanding.  I love love love country, but you NEVER turn a Beatles song into a little honky tonk, cowboy boots wearin, foot stompin, dosey-do, swing your partner and clap your hands JIG.  Phew.

On the other hand, and I don't care what anyone says, I absolutely LOVE Jason Castro.  Not only do I think that he is beautiful and I love his dreads, but his soft singing and guitar/eucalalie playing is magical.  He sang one of my all time FAVORITE songs on Tuesday- Israel Kamakawiwo Ole's version of Somewhere Over the Rainbow.  I really really want someone to play that at my wedding :)

I personally think that Syesha Mercado will go next if you crazies that are voting for Kristy Lee Cook have anything to do with it.  I'm hoping that if that's the scenario, then Kristy will go home the week after that.

And I really think that David Cook will win.  If he doesn't win it'll be exactly like what happened to Chris Daughtry (who deserved to win over Taylor Hicks) but he will for sure get together with an amazing band so I won't even sweat it.

Oh one more thing--if you guys like American Idol then I'm sure you all watched Idol Gives Back on Wednesday.  Can you believe that they've raised around $80 million?!  I made my donation today for $100.  It's not much, but it will feed one orphan for an entire year!  Even if you don't have much, every little bit counts.  You can make your donation at https://www.idolaid.com/AidForm.asp.  Just a few dollars can save lives.

TGIF!

Cool new site to check out....

mycoupons | 08 April, 2008 15:59

Hi MyCouponers! hi

So Allison discovered a really cool site today and I thought I'd share it with you all!  It's called Hulu.com and they have premium content from more than 50 content providers including FOX, NBC, MGM, Sony Pictures Television, Warner Bros., Lionsgate, and even more.  In layman's terms, YOU CAN WATCH YOUR FAVORITE TV SHOWS AND MOVIES!!  How cool is that?!

I keep telling myself I'm going to call Comcast and add DVR to our plan and I never do it.  Now I don't know that I really have to!  I don't watch a whole lot of TV unless it's a sporting event because of reruns and now I know that I can catch up on my favorite TV shows online.  They even have movies!  Who wants to spend freakin $4.99 to buy a movie On Demand when you can just watch it online for FREE!!! HELLOOOOOOO MCFLY!!!

So yes, I'm pumped because I can catch up on shows like Arrested Development, The Office, House, Saturday Night Live, My Name is Earl, The Tonight Show, and hundreds more.

Oh, and for those of you who like to keep up with your celebrity gossip and favorite sports team, don't worry there's stuff for you too!  There are excerpts from shows like E! News Now, Access Hollywood, The Soup, and that hockey or football game that you missed!

3rd Graders Plot teacher attack

mycoupons | 02 April, 2008 15:28

Hi everyone!

So I'm sure you've all heard about the group of nine or so 3rd grade students who plotted to attack their teacher.  When I heard about this on the radio this morning I had no words.  What exactly happened in the last 15 years or so since I've been in 3rd grade??  Not only is it absolutely ridiculous that a child would even THINK of hurting anyone let alone their teacher, but to develop this meticulous master plan to knock her over the head with a paper weight and tie her up and stab her?!  ARE YOU KIDDING???

You know what I planned with my friends in 3rd grade....fashion shows with our Barbie dolls and games of tag or hide-and-go-seek.  How does the mind of a child become so dark and angry?  They supposedly had a plan for each student.  They all had their own prop to bring in like duct tape and a knife and a paper weight.  They all had their own 'job' like one kid was supposed to make sure the windows were covered so that no one could discover what they were doing and one was to hit her over the head while another tied her up and put duct tape over her mouth.  Every last detail conspired.
At age 8, 9, and 10 you know what's right and wrong so how do these children not know what they planned was wrong on so many levels.  Where are these kids parents??  Not teaching them right from wrong apparently.

Who do you put most of the blame on?  The parents?  Television?  Tell me what you think.  Visit The Cafe and tell us your thoughts.

April Fools!!!

mycoupons | 01 April, 2008 10:05

Hello hello!  In honor of April Fool's Day, I thought I'd share with you some of the all time best pranks over the years according to the San Diego-based Museum of Hoaxes and www.breitbart.com

In 1996, Taco Bell announced that it bought the Liberty Bell and was going to rename it Taco Liberty bell.  As the public became livid, Mike McCurry the White House press secretary announced that the Lincoln Memorial was also purchase and was to be renamed the Ford Lincoln Mercury Memorial. haha

In 1957 a BBC television show pulled a prank on it's viewers by showing them footage of Swiss farmers harvesting spaghetti from trees.  The footage showed the farmers pulling strands of spaghetti from the trees which caused such a stir that the station was bombarded with calls about how they can also harvest their own spaghetti!  duurrrr

In 1962, a Swedish TV station which broadcasted in black and white told it's viewers that they came up with a new technology in which they could view the picture in color if they put a stocking over the screen, but they had to wait until 1970 to try it. I mean, are you THAT GULLIBLE?! haha
